The objective of Velo-Mittwoch is to motivate the public to saddle up and use their bicycles more often. Those who get on their bikes on Wednesdays have the chance to win prizes for cycling.
This pioneering project aims to anchor cycling more strongly in daily life as a healthy, environmentally friendly method of transportation, thereby also relieving infrastructures of some of their burden. The core of the campaign is the Velo-Mittwoch app, which participants can use to register their cycling activities, and participate in contests and all other Velo-Mittwoch events. Engagement Migros is also making it possible for the project to pass on its findings to the public and to similar projects wishing to change mobility behaviour in a sustainable way. Velo-Mittwoch is the first supported mobility project with a special focus on Engagement Migros’ new health promotion.
